Triage Issue Reports (Benny)

Classifies a single Slack bug report, dedupes against your issue tracker, and posts exactly one verdict back in the source thread.

AutomationAdvanced★ 3,330⑂ 236AI score 7/10Last updated: Oct 28, 2026

What it does

  • Reads one Slack report and classifies it as bug, performance, feature request, question/feedback, or reroute.
  • Reviews attached evidence (screenshots, video, logs, crash signatures) and does a bounded cause-tracing pass over code and recent history so symptoms aren't routed to the wrong owner.
  • Searches the configured tracker adapter (Linear, GitHub Issues, etc.) for duplicates; on a confident duplicate it only adds the source permalink plus a recurrence note instead of filing again.
  • Posts exactly one reply in the original thread, ending with a single machine-readable marker line such as [benny:bug] tracker=....
  • Fails closed: immutable thread coordinates, preflight checks before every write, and compensation (cancel/close the new ticket) if the verdict post doesn't land.

Who it's for

  • Teams that collect user reports in Slack and manually triage them into tickets.
  • Platform/DevOps engineers wiring Slack to Linear or GitHub Issues through an automation runner.
  • Support and QA groups suffering from duplicate tickets and misrouted ownership.

Example scenarios

  1. "Save button does nothing on the latest build" → matches an existing issue by error signature, so it adds a recurrence note and replies that it's a duplicate.
  2. A video-attached UI freeze report → a read-only media worker pinpoints the state transition, it's classified as performance, and a new ticket is filed with measurements.
  3. "It would be nice to turn this off" → classified as a feature request, no ticket created, closed with the [benny:other] marker.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the automations/benny/skills/triage-issue-reports folder from the GitHub repo backnotprop/pstack into my ~/.claude/skills/triage-issue-reports/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/backnotprop/pstack.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r pstack/automations/benny/skills/triage-issue-reports ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal.
  2. Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/backnotprop/pstack.git
  3. Create the skills directory: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy the skill: cp -r pstack/automations/benny/skills/triage-issue-reports ~/.claude/skills/
  5. Because the frontmatter sets disable-model-invocation: true, the skill only runs when the Benny triage automation invokes it with a config containing the source channel ID, routing.map_path, and a tracker adapter.
  6. Optionally install the companion pstack skills it references (how, why, unslop, principle-*) for better verdict quality.
  7. Restart Claude Code and validate in a sandbox Slack channel before pointing it at a production channel.
