Blender Character Rigging
A production rigging pipeline for Blender: Rigify metarig setup, robust skinning, weight rules, and engine-ready game skeletons.

What it does
- Runs a script chain from Rigify metarig fitting to control rig generation (FK/IK, IK/FK snapping, tweak bones, bone collections).
- Binds meshes with heat weights and auto-falls back to voxel proxy transfer for non-manifold, kitbashed or AI-generated meshes, then limits to 4 influences and normalizes.
- Enforces production bone rules: DEF/ORG/MCH/control layers,
.L/.Rnaming, mirrored roll, chain structure, weightless root bone for root motion. - Runs stress poses to catch collapsing elbows, candy-wrapped forearms, sunken shoulders and hip creases, with weight-painting and corrective shape key fixes.
- Builds and validates game skeletons for Unity Humanoid, Unreal (UE5 Mannequin retarget) and Roblox R15 via
rig_checkprofiles.
Who it's for
- Technical artists and riggers building game or animation characters in Blender.
- 3D artists who need reliable skinning on outsourced or AI-generated meshes.
- Teams whose character exports keep failing engine skeleton requirements.
Examples
- "Rig and skin this character" → fit the metarig, place joints, generate
RIG_Body, then runbind_mesh.py. - "The shoulder collapses when the arms go up" → inspect stress frames, rebalance clavicle/upper-arm/spine weights, add a corrective shape key.
- "Make a Unity-ready skeleton" →
rigify_build.py --game-skeletonthenrig_check.py --profile unity --fix.

Read the instructions in this file and follow them to help me: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/EL4CTEO/blender-skills/HEAD/skills/blender-character-rigging/SKILL.md What I want: (describe your task here)
If Claude can't open the link, open it yourself and paste the contents instead.
↓ If it works for you, download the ZIP below and install it. Then it runs on its own — no pasting each time.
Install in the Claude app (no terminal)
- Download the ZIP with the button below.
- In Claude, open Settings → Capabilities and turn on 'Code execution and file creation'. (one time)
- Go to Customize → Skills → + → 'Upload a skill' and upload the ZIP.
Install in Claude Code
Let Claude do it — paste this into Claude Code
Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart. Copy the skills/blender-character-rigging folder from the GitHub repo EL4CTEO/blender-skills into my ~/.claude/skills/blender-character-rigging/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/EL4CTEO/blender-skills.git /tmp/blender-skills && cp -r /tmp/blender-skills/skills/blender-character-rigging ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Open a terminal.
- Create the skills folder if needed:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills - Clone the repo:
git clone https://github.com/EL4CTEO/blender-skills.git /tmp/blender-skills - Copy this skill:
cp -r /tmp/blender-skills/skills/blender-character-rigging ~/.claude/skills/ - Recommended: also copy the companion skills:
cp -r /tmp/blender-skills/skills/blender-core /tmp/blender-skills/skills/blender-animation ~/.claude/skills/ - Make sure Blender 5.x is installed and callable from the command line.
- Restart Claude Code and ask something like "rig this character for Unreal" to trigger the skill.
