Operator User Init (user-init)

Runs the `operator-helper` CLI to initialize and configure the Operator User Partition, with built-in recovery steps.

UtilitiesIntermediate★ 419⑂ 15AI score 6/10Last updated: Oct 9, 2026

What it does

  • Checks operator-helper version and runs operator-helper upgrade first if an update exists.
  • Runs operator-helper user init and follows the User Setup guide emitted by the CLI to configure the user partition.
  • Provides per-situation recovery: Helper won't start, version check/upgrade fails, or init reports a failure.
  • Treats Helper output as working context only — no wholesale copying and no reimplementing Helper logic.

Who it's for

  • Anyone bootstrapping an Operator Memory environment built on @aerovato/operator-helper.
  • Teams that want one standard Operator initialization procedure.
  • Users who get stuck on CLI install/upgrade errors.

Examples

  1. Fresh machine: invoke the skill and it walks version check → upgrade → user init in order.
  2. operator-helper: command not found: install or repair the global npm package @aerovato/operator-helper, then retry the failed command.
  3. user init fails: use the printed error to resolve the cause and rerun as needed; report a blocker if unresolvable.

Let Claude do it — paste this into Claude Code

Install the skill I found on Claude Skill Mart.
Copy the packages/claude-code/skills/user-init folder from the GitHub repo aerovato/operator-memory into my ~/.claude/skills/user-init/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/aerovato/operator-memory.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r operator-memory/packages/claude-code/skills/user-init ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Verify Node.js and npm are installed (node -v, npm -v).
  2. Install the CLI globally: npm i -g @aerovato/operator-helper.
  3. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/aerovato/operator-memory.git
  4. Create the skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  5. Copy the skill: cp -r operator-memory/packages/claude-code/skills/user-init ~/.claude/skills/
  6. Restart Claude Code; since model invocation is disabled, explicitly ask it to run the user-init skill.
