trader-broker (Order Executor)

Sends risk-approved stock orders to Alpaca or Interactive Brokers behind three separate approval gates, paper by default, and logs fills plus end-of-day flattening.

AutomationAdvanced★ 4,301⑂ 1,017AI score 8/10Last updated: Oct 20, 2026

What it does

  • Renders every proposed order as a plain-language ticket (symbol, size, stop-loss, take-profit, max loss at the stop) alongside the exact place_stock_order JSON it will send.
  • Requires three gates before anything hits the market: ① a same-day trader-risk PASS fingerprinted to that exact order, ② an explicit, word-for-word "yes" typed for that single order, and ③ a click on Claude's own Allow once permission card. No "yes to all", ever.
  • Defaults to a paper account; switching to live is something the user must do themselves in their own config.
  • Walks you through installing Alpaca's official MCP server in Claude Desktop, adding the Interactive Brokers connector, and locking order tools to "Needs approval" (with dangerous tools Blocked).
  • Builds the closing sell ticket by your flat-by time (15:55 New York), records fills, and keeps each trade's max loss in trader/state/broker.json so trader-risk can enforce the daily limit.

Who it's for

  • Day traders on Alpaca or IBKR who want AI help executing orders but with layered human confirmation.
  • Anyone who wants to rehearse a full trading workflow on paper before risking real money.
  • Traders who need rule-based risk guardrails (per-trade max loss, daily cap, flat by the close) recorded automatically.

Examples

  1. "Place the order" → ticket.py show surfaces one READY ticket, asks "Place this order? yes or no" → you type "yes" → it's logged verbatim → place_stock_order is called → Allow once sends it to the paper account.
  2. "Connect Alpaca / set up paper trading" → step-by-step edits to claude_desktop_config.json with the uvx alpaca-mcp-server block, keys in env vars only, place_stock_order set to Needs approval, close_all_positions and option/crypto tools Blocked.
  3. "Flatten / get me out" → read current position size → cancel the bracket's resting stop and target → write a market sell ticket → re-run risk → wait for your yes → record the fill.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the trader-broker folder from the GitHub repo Jakeschincariol/day-trader-skill into my ~/.claude/skills/trader-broker/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/day-trader-skill.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r day-trader-skill/trader-broker ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal and clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/day-trader-skill.git
  2. Copy the skill into Claude's skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r day-trader-skill/trader-broker ~/.claude/skills/ (also copy trader-risk, trader-budget and trader-alerts from the same pack).
  3. Confirm Python 3 is installed (python3 --version) — ticket.py runs on it.
  4. Create an Alpaca account and generate paper trading API keys (separate from live keys).
  5. Install uv from docs.astral.sh/uv so the uvx command is available.
  6. In Claude Desktop go to Settings > Developer > Edit Config, open claude_desktop_config.json, paste the mcpServers.alpaca block from the SKILL.md, and type your keys into that file only — never into the chat.
  7. Restart Claude Desktop, then under Customize > Connectors > alpaca set place_stock_order to Needs approval and Block close_all_positions, cancel_all_orders, and the option/crypto order tools.
  8. Verify with a read-only call (account info) that you are on the paper account, then test the flow by asking Claude to show an order ticket.
