Reproduce and Fix Issues (Benny workflow)

A strict automation that reproduces Slack-triaged bugs twice through the real UI and opens a draft PR only after before-and-after proof.

AutomationAdvanced★ 3,104⑂ 224AI score 7/10Last updated: Oct 28, 2026

What it does

  • Waits silently for a trusted triage marker ([benny:bug], [benny:performance]) in the source Slack thread before doing anything.
  • Freezes source channel/thread coordinates, forbids root posts, preflights every post, and keeps all Slack writes with the coordinator only.
  • Uses a control adapter plus a feature map to launch the target app and drive the reported path with real UI actions; the discriminating symptom must appear twice.
  • Switches to verify mode when an existing PR or commit already addresses the report, instead of authoring a competing patch.
  • Attempts a minimal, budgeted fix only after root cause is proven, captures before/after recordings, and opens a draft PR (never merges or deploys).

Who it's for

  • Teams receiving bug reports in Slack who want an agent to own first-pass reproduction
  • QA/platform engineers who already have a UI control adapter (launch, click, record, clean up)
  • Users of the pstack skill family (how, why, tdd, unslop)

Examples

  1. A user reports "settings don't save"; the triage bot leaves [benny:bug] tracker=..., and the agent launches the app, repeats the path twice, and captures the broken final state.
  2. An open PR already targets the bug: the agent runs baseline and patched builds through the UI to confirm the symptom is gone, without writing its own patch.
  3. Nothing reproduces within the budget: it posts nothing in the source thread and records Could not reproduce in the operations thread.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the automations/benny/skills/reproduce-and-fix-issues folder from the GitHub repo backnotprop/pstack into my ~/.claude/skills/reproduce-and-fix-issues/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/backnotprop/pstack.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r pstack/automations/benny/skills/reproduce-and-fix-issues ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal in your working directory.
  2. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/backnotprop/pstack.git
  3. Create the skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy the skill: cp -r pstack/automations/benny/skills/reproduce-and-fix-issues ~/.claude/skills/
  5. Verify that references/control-adapter.md and references/verify-existing-fix.md came along.
  6. Prepare the Benny config (source channel ID, triage identity user ID, feature map path, repro/fix budgets) and install a control-adapter skill that can launch the app, drive the UI, and record the screen.
  7. The skill sets disable-model-invocation: true, so wire it into the Benny automation runner and dry-run it in a test channel before production use.
