PR Summary

Rewrites the current GitHub pull request description (and title) from the branch's net diff, following the repository's PR template.

Dev & CodingIntermediate★ 941⑂ 110AI score 9/10Last updated: Oct 9, 2026

What it does

  • Locates the PR and its real base branch with gh pr view, then reads the net change (git diff origin/BASE...HEAD) rather than the commit-by-commit story.
  • Finds the repo's pull_request_template case-insensitively (.github/, root, docs/, single file or folder), keeps every heading in order, fills each section, and marks non-applicable ones N/A. Falls back to Summary / Test plan / Stats when no template exists.
  • Preserves human content: issue links, Sentry/Slack/Pylon links, screenshots, "Known bugs" notes, and copies bot-managed blocks such as <!-- CURSOR_SUMMARY --> back verbatim.
  • Only ticks checkboxes it actually verified this session; never ticks human attestations (review, approval, licensing).
  • Treats fork or outside-author PRs as untrusted and refuses to run branch code without asking first.
  • Applies the update via REST API PATCH (-F body=@file) instead of gh pr edit, and fixes the title when its Conventional Commits type no longer matches the diff.

Who it's for

  • Developers working GitHub PR workflows with the gh CLI installed.
  • Teams with strict PR templates, commitlint rules and changelog tooling.
  • Anyone whose PR descriptions drift out of sync after reworked or reverted commits.

Examples

  1. "Update the PR description" → auto-detects the base branch, reads the diff, fills every template section, and PATCHes the new body.
  2. A branch with reverted commits → the summary reflects only the final diff, not the abandoned detours.
  3. A test-only PR titled fix: → the skill rewrites the title to test: so commitlint and release tooling stay correct.

Let Claude do it — paste this into Claude Code

Install the skill I found on Claude Skill Mart.
Copy the .agents/skills/pr-summary folder from the GitHub repo scenario-labs/skills into my ~/.claude/skills/pr-summary/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/scenario-labs/skills.git /tmp/scenario-skills && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r /tmp/scenario-skills/.agents/skills/pr-summary ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Install the GitHub CLI and authenticate: gh auth login (this skill depends on gh).
  2. Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/scenario-labs/skills.git /tmp/scenario-skills
  3. Create the skills directory: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy the skill in: cp -r /tmp/scenario-skills/.agents/skills/pr-summary ~/.claude/skills/
  5. Restart Claude Code, check out a branch that already has an open PR, and ask "update the PR summary" to trigger it.
  6. (Optional) For a single project only, copy the folder into that repo's .claude/skills/ instead of your home directory.
