What it does

  • Creates a timestamped run directory (output/paper-writer/<slug>/<ts>/paper/) and copies a LaTeX template so runs never clobber each other.
  • Builds bibliography.bib to 200+ entries that each trace back to a URL fetched in-session via 15–25 WebSearch/WebFetch query angles; fabricated citations are forbidden.
  • Produces 4–8 publication-grade figures (matplotlib/TikZ) with sources saved for reproducibility, reusing existing figures when available.
  • Drafts seven substantive sections in order — introduction → related work → method → experiment → results → conclusion → abstract last — following per-section playbooks for length and citation density.
  • Compiles with pdflatex/bibtex and self-checks against hard gates G1–G8 and soft gates S1–S4.
  • Keeps simulated numbers visibly labelled in the title footnote, abstract, and captions, and always recommends expert human review.

  3. When a topic is too niche to reach 200 real citations, it reports the honest shortfall instead of padding the bibliography.

  1. Open a terminal.
  2. Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/ai4s-research/ai4s-skills.git
  3. Create the skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy the skill: cp -r ai4s-skills/skills/paper-writer ~/.claude/skills/
  5. Verify that references/ and templates/paper/ came along with it.
  6. Install a LaTeX toolchain (TeX Live or MacTeX) and confirm pdflatex -v and bibtex -v work.
