Map Route Animation (/map-route)

Renders a reel-ready 3D map animation where a coloured route draws itself from A to B with a bouncing pin and a counting-down ETA card.

Image & VideoIntermediate★ 272⑂ 34AI score 9/10Last updated: Nov 1, 2026

What it does

  • Builds a clean white 3D city (block buildings, parks, a river) with an accent-coloured route that draws itself from start to destination.
  • The camera rides along the route and pulls back at the end, while a red pin drops with a bounce.
  • An ETA card counts the minutes down, flips to "Arrived", and a destination card appears.
  • You just supply destination, minutes and distance; the skill writes a <name>.map.json spec and runs build.py to render the mp4.

Who it's for

  • Creators making "from A to B" Reels, TikToks or Shorts.
  • Local businesses showing the way to a shop, gym or café.
  • Travel vloggers and anyone animating a commute, running route or delivery journey.

Examples

  • "Home to the gym, 2.8 km, 9 min" → a blue route draws itself and ends on an "Iron Yard Gym" card.
  • Swap accent for a brand colour and change seed to get different building/park layouts.
  • Fill places with five real neighbourhood names so the grey labels match your city.
  • Use --snap 3.8 to preview the final frame and confirm the destination card isn't clipped.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the skills/map-route folder from the GitHub repo artemnovitckii/claude-animation-skills into my ~/.claude/skills/map-route/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/artemnovitckii/claude-animation-skills.git /tmp/claude-animation-skills && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r /tmp/claude-animation-skills/skills/map-route ~/.claude/skills/ && cp -r /tmp/claude-animation-skills/kit ~/.claude/ 2>/dev/null; bash ~/.claude/kit/setup.sh

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal and confirm prerequisites: ffmpeg -version and node -v. Install them if missing (macOS: brew install ffmpeg node).
  2. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/artemnovitckii/claude-animation-skills.git
  3. Copy the skill: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r claude-animation-skills/skills/map-route ~/.claude/skills/
  4. Copy the shared render kit too: cp -r claude-animation-skills/kit ~/.claude/
  5. Run the one-time setup: bash ~/.claude/kit/setup.sh (pulls three.js and headless Chrome deps).
  6. Restart Claude Code, then type /map-route or ask for "an animated route from home to the gym, 9 min".
  7. Rendering takes roughly 1.5 minutes; a sub_timeline_readiness_timeout warning is expected. The mp4 path is printed when it finishes.
