Keyword Deep Dive
An SEO skill that Googles one target keyword, reads the top 10 SERP results and top 3 competitor pages, then outputs intent, difficulty, gaps and a 90-day ranking plan.
Marketing & SEOIntermediate★ 340⑂ 41AI score 8/10Last updated: Sep 3, 2026
What it does
- Searches the target keyword and reads the top 10 results, with full reads of the top 3.
- Classifies dominant intent (Informational / Commercial Investigation / Transactional / Navigational) and rates zero-click risk Low/Medium/High, factoring in AI Overviews and featured snippets.
- Audits active SERP features: featured snippet, People Also Ask, AI Overview, image pack, video carousel, local pack, sitelinks, knowledge panel.
- Estimates SERP volatility with heuristics instead of a rank tracker, and refuses to fabricate when signals are unclear.
- Produces a competitive read of the top 3 (format, word count, internal linking, hard-to-replicate assets) plus explicit content gaps.
- Branches by situation: new content spec (type, word-count target, must-have sections, unique angle, E-E-A-T) or a diagnosis plus 30-day optimization plan for an existing page.
- Ends with 2 title tag options (≤60 chars), 1 meta description (≤160 chars), and a 90-day position/effort estimate.
- Pulls six bundled reference docs (CTR curves, zero-click math, intent framework, difficulty-from-SERP) only at the step that needs them.
Who it's for
- In-house marketers without paid keyword tools who still want SERP-grounded decisions.
- Content leads who need a fast "is this keyword worth it?" verdict.
- SEO owners diagnosing why an existing page is stuck.
- Freelancers and agencies producing repeatable keyword reports.
Example uses
- Vet a new keyword: "Deep dive the keyword 'best project management software'" → intent, zero-click risk, top-3 competitor read, content spec, 90-day plan.
- Fix an existing page: "My page example.com/crm-guide targets 'crm comparison'" → missing sections vs. top 3, title/meta rewrites, 30-day roadmap.
- Decide to walk away: if Wikipedia, Reddit or news aggregators own positions 1-3, it flags the fight as unwinnable and redirects effort.
