Operator Project Index

A runbook skill that builds or refreshes the Operator Project Index via the operator-helper CLI.

AutomationIntermediate★ 381⑂ 13AI score 5/10Last updated: Oct 7, 2026

What it does

  • Checks operator-helper version and upgrades first when a newer release exists.
  • Runs operator-helper index init and follows the emitted Project Index Setup guide, including on inspection failures.
  • Tells you to run /operator:project-init when the Project Brain is missing, and repairs the global npm package @aerovato/operator-helper when the CLI won't start.
  • Instructs Claude to treat Helper output as context only — no wholesale copying and no reimplementing Helper logic.

Who it's for

  • Teams already invested in the Operator Memory / operator-helper workflow.
  • Developers who need periodic project-index refreshes on large codebases.
  • Users who want Claude Code to follow CLI output faithfully instead of improvising.

Examples

  1. Bootstrapping the index the first time you adopt Operator in a repo.
  2. Refreshing the index after a large refactor changes the file layout.
  3. Recovering when operator-helper fails to launch: reinstall the global npm package and rerun indexing.

Let Claude do it — paste this into Claude Code

Install the skill I found on Claude Skill Mart.
Copy the packages/claude-code/skills/index folder from the GitHub repo aerovato/operator-memory into my ~/.claude/skills/index/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/aerovato/operator-memory.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r operator-memory/packages/claude-code/skills/index ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal.
  2. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/aerovato/operator-memory.git.
  3. Create the skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills.
  4. Copy the skill: cp -r operator-memory/packages/claude-code/skills/index ~/.claude/skills/.
  5. Install the required CLI: npm i -g @aerovato/operator-helper.
