GIF Cinema
Generate, review and retake short GIF shots, then assemble them into a short MP4 film via a public CLI.

What it does
- Turns your idea into a few short shots with a beginning, response and payoff, authored as a JSON script.
- Drives the public
gif-cinemaCLI to generate GIF shots, extract last frames withendpoints, and chain them as references for the next shot. - Checks continuity across cuts (identity, costume/props, pose, scale, camera geography, lighting, action direction) and retakes a single shot with
--force-shotwhile reusing accepted neighbors by hash. - Assembles approved GIFs into a final import-only montage and exports MP4, reporting native GIF frames separately from export FPS.
- Supports zero-cost planning with
--dry-runand source-only montages with--max-api-calls 0.
Who it's for
- Creators experimenting with GPT-generated animated shots stitched into a short film.
- People who want shot-level review, retakes and rollback instead of one-shot generation.
- Users comfortable with the terminal, Python virtualenvs and FFmpeg.
Examples
- Render the bundled three-shot astronaut example (
assets/example/film.json) with--max-api-calls 0to get a 7.68-second silent MP4 without any API key. - Extract shot 1's last frame and feed it into shot 2's
referencesalongside a clean identity still to keep the character consistent. - When only the middle shot is wrong, copy the script, revise that shot, re-render with
--force-shot, and judge it inside the full montage against both neighbors.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart. Copy the pending/antropos17/gif-cinema folder from the GitHub repo aiskillstore/marketplace into my ~/.claude/skills/gif-cinema/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/aiskillstore/marketplace.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r marketplace/pending/antropos17/gif-cinema ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Clone the marketplace repo:
git clone https://github.com/aiskillstore/marketplace.git - Copy the skill into Claude's skills folder:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r marketplace/pending/antropos17/gif-cinema ~/.claude/skills/ - Verify prerequisites: Python 3.10+, Git, FFmpeg and ffprobe (
python --version,ffmpeg -version,ffprobe -version). - Create and activate a virtual environment:
python -m venv .venv, then your shell's activation command. - Install the pinned runtime:
python -m pip install --upgrade pip "setuptools>=77" wheel, then thepip install --no-build-isolation "gif-cinema @ git+..."line from SKILL.md. - Confirm with
python -m gif_cinema --helpand runscripts/smoke_test.py --out NEW_DIRfrom the skill folder for a key-free smoke test. - For real generation, export your own
OPENAI_API_KEY(billing applies); note the runtime's non-commercial evaluation license. - Restart Claude Code and ask something like "build a short film from GIF shots" to trigger the skill.
