console-graphics (PS2 Graphics Artist)
A PS2-port graphics skill that dumps and rebuilds TIM2 textures as PNG, hunts widescreen constants in the ELF, and decodes GS/DMA packets when nothing draws.

What it does
- Finds
.tm2files and TIM2 blobs inside archives on your extracted disc folder and dumps them to PNG (palette indices preserved, PS2 alpha normalised, CSM1 swizzle undone). - Rebuilds
.tm2files from your edited PNGs at the same size and pixel format, keeping the original header and GS registers, and reinserts them at the same archive offset. - Scans the game ELF for every 4:3 constant and emits a pnach file with 16:9 candidate lines to toggle one at a time in PCSX2.
- Walks a RAM dump's DMA chains, VIF codes, GIF tags and GS register writes, flagging truncated image uploads, bad VIF codes or prohibited primitives that break rendering.
- Writes only to
console/textures/andconsole/patches/— never into the disc image.
Who it's for
- Reverse-engineers running their own dumped PS2 games through a PC runtime port.
- Retro modders hunting their own widescreen patches for PCSX2.
- Artists replacing in-game textures with their own artwork.
Examples
- "Dump the textures" →
tim2.py topng console/disc/DATA --out console/textures/pngconverts a whole folder. - "Repaint the title screen with my art" → rebuild with
frompngat identical resolution, drop it next to the ELF, boot the port. - "The picture is stretched, make it 16:9" →
widescreen.py scangenerates candidate pnach sections to test one by one. - "Black screen, nothing draws" →
gspacket.py dmawalks the chain and reports where the packet stream goes wrong.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart. Copy the console-graphics folder from the GitHub repo Jakeschincariol/console-skill into my ~/.claude/skills/console-graphics/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/console-skill.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r console-skill/console-graphics ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Open a terminal and confirm Python 3 is available:
python3 --version. - Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/console-skill.git - Create the skills folder:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills - Copy the skill in:
cp -r console-skill/console-graphics ~/.claude/skills/ - Check that
~/.claude/skills/console-graphics/containsSKILL.md,tim2.py,widescreen.py,gspacket.pyand thereference/folder. - Restart Claude Code and try a prompt like "dump the textures" to confirm the skill loads.
- Prerequisites: a game folder you extracted from a disc you own (including the ELF), plus PCSX2 for widescreen testing.
