Console Controller Mapper
Generates a drop-in PS2Recomp pad file so any controller, keyboard or touch layout maps to the DualShock 2 report your way.

What it does
- Reads a mapping from
console/controls.json(layout preset plus per-button overrides) and writesconsole/ps2_pad.cpp, a drop-in replacement for PS2Recomp's runtime pad file. - Supports radial deadzone, invert Y, stick swap, analog trigger threshold, keyboard bindings, two players and Android touch zones.
- Backs up the stock file to
console/backups/ps2_pad.cpp.origand offers a one-commandrestore. - Optional
--replaymode records and replays input scripts for repeatable test runs.
Who it's for
- PS2Recomp users running recompiled PS2 games they legally own.
- Players whose Xbox or Switch Pro face buttons land in the wrong place.
- Anyone shipping the same port to desktop, Steam Deck, Android or Vita with different input needs.
Examples
- "My Switch Pro A/B are swapped" →
init --layout switch-labels, thengenandinstall --repo ~/PS2Recomp. - "Invert the camera" → set
invert_y: true, regenerate, and do an incremental rebuild of one .cpp. - "Script a menu walkthrough for testing" →
gen --replay, record withPS2X_INPUT_RECORD, replay via /console-tester.

Install in Claude Code
Let Claude do it — paste this into Claude Code
Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart. Copy the console-controller folder from the GitHub repo Jakeschincariol/console-skill into my ~/.claude/skills/console-controller/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/console-skill.git /tmp/console-skill && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r /tmp/console-skill/console-controller ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Open a terminal.
- Clone the repo:
git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/console-skill.git. - Create the skills folder:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills. - Copy the skill:
cp -r console-skill/console-controller ~/.claude/skills/. - Confirm Python 3 is available with
python3 --version. - Note the path to your PS2Recomp checkout (e.g.
~/PS2Recomp) — install needs it. - Restart Claude Code and ask something like "remap my Xbox pad for the port".
