Breakdown (3D Exploded-View Reel)

Turns a single JSON spec into a labelled 3D exploded-view animation of a phone, ready for a reel.

Image & VideoIntermediate★ 272⑂ 34AI score 8/10Last updated: Nov 1, 2026

What it does

  • Renders a 3D animation where a phone floats on a dark studio backdrop and separates into six layers: cover glass, display, frame, logic board, battery and back.
  • Draws thin leader lines from each layer to a right-hand label column, numbered 01–06 with short notes.
  • You only write a <name>.breakdown.json spec; build.py renders via WebGL in headless Chrome and returns the mp4 path.
  • Includes a QA loop: --snap 1.0,3.8 captures assembled and exploded frames so you can verify label placement before the full render.

Who it's for

  • Marketers and creators making hardware teaser reels or short-form videos.
  • Product and tech content writers who need a clean "what's inside" visual.
  • Designers willing to edit template.html for other flat layered objects (tablet, laptop lid, card wallet, smartwatch).

Examples

  1. Run /breakdown with real specs ("Battery / 3,582 mAh", "OLED display / 6.3 in · 120 Hz") for a launch teaser.
  2. Swap in dry-joke labels ("Battery / never enough") for a social clip.
  3. Copy template.html, tweak PW/PL/PR, slab() and ANCHORS to produce a smartwatch teardown.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the skills/breakdown folder from the GitHub repo artemnovitckii/claude-animation-skills into my ~/.claude/skills/breakdown/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/artemnovitckii/claude-animation-skills.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r claude-animation-skills/skills/breakdown ~/.claude/skills/ && cp -r claude-animation-skills/kit ~/.claude/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/artemnovitckii/claude-animation-skills.git
  2. Create the skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  3. Copy the skill: cp -r claude-animation-skills/skills/breakdown ~/.claude/skills/
  4. Copy the shared render kit: cp -r claude-animation-skills/kit ~/.claude/
  5. Install prerequisites: Node.js and ffmpeg (on macOS: brew install node ffmpeg).
  6. Restart Claude Code and type /breakdown. On first run, kit/setup.sh downloads three.js and other dependencies.
  7. Decide your six labels, then render with --snap 3.8 first to check label placement; a full render takes about 1.5 minutes.
