BIM Validation Report Generator
Rule-based quality checks on BIM element data that produce a multi-sheet Excel validation report.

What it does
- Takes a BIM element table (Excel/CSV → pandas DataFrame) and checks it against built-in validation rules.
- Ships 7 default rules covering required properties (name, level, material), naming conventions (special characters, length), classification codes, and geometry (zero volume, invalid bounding box).
- Classifies findings as ERROR / WARNING / INFO and derives an overall status: PASSED, PASSED_WITH_WARNINGS, or FAILED.
- Exports an Excel report with Summary, Issues, and By Category sheets.
- Lets you register project-specific rules via
add_custom_rule().
Who it's for
- BIM managers and coordinators doing manual model QC on Revit/IFC data
- Design and construction teams checking data quality against ISO 19650 / buildingSMART IDS
- Data engineers building construction data pipelines in Python
Example uses
- Read
bim_elements.xlsxand generate a report for "Office Tower / Architectural Model v3.2", printing error and warning counts. - Add a CUSTOM-001 rule requiring
fire_ratingon Walls and Doors, then re-run validation. - Use it as an automated QC gate: if status is FAILED, trigger a notification in your pipeline.

Read the instructions in this file and follow them to help me: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/datadrivenconstruction/DDC_Skills_for_AI_Agents_in_Construction/HEAD/1_DDC_Toolkit/BIM-Analysis/bim-validation-report/SKILL.md What I want: (describe your task here)
If Claude can't open the link, open it yourself and paste the contents instead.
↓ If it works for you, download the ZIP below and install it. Then it runs on its own — no pasting each time.
Install in the Claude app (no terminal)
- Download the ZIP with the button below.
- In Claude, open Settings → Capabilities and turn on 'Code execution and file creation'. (one time)
- Go to Customize → Skills → + → 'Upload a skill' and upload the ZIP.
Install in Claude Code

Install the skill I found on Claude Skill Mart. Copy the 1_DDC_Toolkit/BIM-Analysis/bim-validation-report folder from the GitHub repo datadrivenconstruction/DDC_Skills_for_AI_Agents_in_Construction into my ~/.claude/skills/bim-validation-report/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/datadrivenconstruction/DDC_Skills_for_AI_Agents_in_Construction.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r DDC_Skills_for_AI_Agents_in_Construction/1_DDC_Toolkit/BIM-Analysis/bim-validation-report ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Open a terminal.
- Clone the repo:
git clone https://github.com/datadrivenconstruction/DDC_Skills_for_AI_Agents_in_Construction.git - Create the skills folder:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills - Copy the skill:
cp -r DDC_Skills_for_AI_Agents_in_Construction/1_DDC_Toolkit/BIM-Analysis/bim-validation-report ~/.claude/skills/ - Install Python dependencies:
pip install pandas openpyxl - Restart Claude Code and ask something like "generate a BIM model validation report".
- Make sure your input columns match what the code expects (element_id, name, category, level, material, volume, min_x … max_z).
