Assumption Mapper

Extracts hidden assumptions from a product brief or PRD, ranks them by risk, and names the cheapest test that could kill each one.

Docs & OfficeIntermediate★ 1,437⑂ 257AI score 8/10Last updated: Oct 11, 2026

What it does

  • Reads a product brief, PRD, or rough concept notes and pulls out the untested assumptions.
  • Sorts them across four lenses — Desirability, Technical feasibility, Business viability, Usability — requiring at least one per lens so blind spots surface.
  • Scores each assumption for load-bearing (1–5) and confidence (1–5), ranks by Priority = load-bearing − confidence, and tags provenance as [data] or [intuition].
  • Mechanically flags anything at Impact 4+ / Confidence ≤2 as CRITICAL.
  • Picks the single riskiest assumption and names the cheapest test runnable this week, plus what failure would look like.
  • Outputs a ranked assumption table and a "Top 3 to validate first" list, then hands the unresolved bet off as an Open Question for the PRD stage.
  • Ships with a 0–40 scoring rubric, quality checks, and anti-patterns (e.g. never defaulting to "user interviews" for everything).

Who it's for

  • PMs and product owners who want a risk pass before writing a PRD or starting build.
  • Teams that inflate confidence simply because nobody challenged an assumption.
  • Founders and leads reviewing incoming feature proposals.
  • Note: it's product-management specific, needs an input document, and this copy is a machine translation into Spanish.

Example uses

  1. Audit a self-serve onboarding brief — from "reduce time-to-value for SMB customers," it produces rows like "SMB users can complete onboarding without human help" (Usability, confidence 2 / impact 5 → CRITICAL) with an unmoderated usability test (n=8) as the validation method.
  2. Risk-audit an existing PRD — paste the PRD and ask for a risk audit; it fills in the neglected technical and commercial assumptions and returns a Top 3 with effort estimates.
  3. Design a validation plan — for the riskiest bet it recommends concrete methods (cohort analysis, fake door, desk check, engineering spike) with sample size and effort instead of generic "do research."

Install the skill I found on Claude Skill Mart.
Copy the i18n/es/skills/assumption-mapper folder from the GitHub repo mohitagw15856/pm-claude-skills into my ~/.claude/skills/assumption-mapper/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/mohitagw15856/pm-claude-skills.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r pm-claude-skills/i18n/es/skills/assumption-mapper ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal (Terminal on macOS, Git Bash or WSL on Windows).
  2. Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/mohitagw15856/pm-claude-skills.git
  3. Create the skills folder if needed: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy the skill: cp -r pm-claude-skills/i18n/es/skills/assumption-mapper ~/.claude/skills/ (for the English original use pm-claude-skills/skills/assumption-mapper).
  5. Verify with ls ~/.claude/skills/assumption-mapper that SKILL.md plus the references/ and templates/ folders are present; if they're missing, copy them from the original skills/assumption-mapper/ directory.
  6. Restart Claude Code and try: "Review this product brief for hidden assumptions."
