Asset Optimization (Blender)
A pre-export validation gate for Blender assets: polycount budgets, topology cleanup, UV efficiency, material/naming conventions and LOD generation.

What it does
- Audits triangle counts against budgets and fixes geometry issues: duplicate verts, loose geo, non-manifold, interior faces, unapplied transforms.
- Checks UV pack efficiency (>75%), texel density consistency and unintended overlaps.
- Validates material counts,
MAT_naming,SM_object prefixes andCOL_Collisioncollections. - Provides an LOD0–LOD3 ladder (100/50/25/10% tris) with Decimate guidance (Planar for hard surface, Collapse for organic).
- Emits an optimization report table with per-object tris, materials and PASS/FAIL.
Who it's for
- 3D artists building game assets in Blender for Unity/Unreal pipelines.
- Technical artists enforcing naming and polycount standards across a team.
- Anyone driving Blender from Claude Code through an MCP server.
Examples
- "Audit this scene before export" → per-object triangle/material query plus a fix list and report.
- "Generate LODs for the hero prop" → creates
SM_Asset_LOD0..LOD3with silhouette-preserving decimation. - "Find naming convention violations" → scans the scene tree for missing
SM_/MAT_prefixes and misplaced collision meshes.

Read the instructions in this file and follow them to help me: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/arjun988/blender-skills/HEAD/.claude/skills/asset-optimization/SKILL.md What I want: (describe your task here)
If Claude can't open the link, open it yourself and paste the contents instead.
↓ If it works for you, download the ZIP below and install it. Then it runs on its own — no pasting each time.
Install in the Claude app (no terminal)
- Download the ZIP with the button below.
- In Claude, open Settings → Capabilities and turn on 'Code execution and file creation'. (one time)
- Go to Customize → Skills → + → 'Upload a skill' and upload the ZIP.
Install in Claude Code
Let Claude do it — paste this into Claude Code
Install the skill I found on Claude Skill Mart. Copy the .claude/skills/asset-optimization folder from the GitHub repo arjun988/blender-skills into my ~/.claude/skills/asset-optimization/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/arjun988/blender-skills /tmp/blender-skills && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r /tmp/blender-skills/.claude/skills/asset-optimization ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Open a terminal.
- Clone the repo:
git clone https://github.com/arjun988/blender-skills /tmp/blender-skills - Create the skills folder:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills - Copy the skill:
cp -r /tmp/blender-skills/.claude/skills/asset-optimization ~/.claude/skills/ - Also copy the shared references it links to:
cp -r /tmp/blender-skills/.claude/references ~/.claude/ 2>/dev/null || true - Install and connect a Blender MCP server, and make sure Blender is running.
- Restart Claude Code and try "run an optimization audit before export" to confirm the skill triggers.
