Android Development Guidelines
A ruleset that guides Claude to write Kotlin Android code using clean architecture, MVI, and Material 3 conventions.

What it does
- Enforces Kotlin conventions: naming rules, function/class size limits, immutability, SOLID.
- Proposes a four-layer clean architecture (
data / domain / presentation / di) with Repository and Use Case separation. - Guides MVI design: a single immutable state object and one entry point for user intents.
- Collects UI-layer conventions: Navigation Component, ViewBinding, ConstraintLayout, Material 3, responsive layouts.
- Covers Coroutines/WorkManager, Hilt/Dagger DI, Espresso testing, and performance tips like RecyclerView DiffUtil.
Who it's for
- Android developers writing Kotlin, solo or on small teams.
- Projects without an agreed code-review standard or convention doc.
- Codebases that still use XML layouts and Fragments rather than Jetpack Compose.
Usage examples
- "Write the login screen ViewModel using MVI" → generates a single state class, intent entry point, and Flow-based state exposure.
- "Review this Repository class" → flags magic numbers, oversized functions, and non-idiomatic exception handling.
- "Scaffold the folder structure for a new app" → suggests data/domain/presentation/di layers plus Hilt module placement.

Read the instructions in this file and follow them to help me: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Mindrally/skills/HEAD/android-development/SKILL.md What I want: (describe your task here)
If Claude can't open the link, open it yourself and paste the contents instead.
↓ If it works for you, download the ZIP below and install it. Then it runs on its own — no pasting each time.
Install in the Claude app (no terminal)
- Download the ZIP with the button below.
- In Claude, open Settings → Capabilities and turn on 'Code execution and file creation'. (one time)
- Go to Customize → Skills → + → 'Upload a skill' and upload the ZIP.
Install in Claude Code

Install the skill I found on Claude Skill Mart. Copy the android-development folder from the GitHub repo Mindrally/skills into my ~/.claude/skills/android-development/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/Mindrally/skills.git /tmp/mindrally-skills && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r /tmp/mindrally-skills/android-development ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Open a terminal.
- Clone the repo into a temp folder:
git clone https://github.com/Mindrally/skills.git /tmp/mindrally-skills - Create the skills directory:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills - Copy just this skill:
cp -r /tmp/mindrally-skills/android-development ~/.claude/skills/ - Verify the file exists:
ls ~/.claude/skills/android-development/SKILL.md - Restart Claude Code and try a prompt like "build this Android screen with MVI" to confirm the skill loads.
- If your team uses Jetpack Compose, edit the 'UI Framework Preferences' section of SKILL.md to match your stack.
