TL;DR Compressor

Turns a document, thread, transcript, or pasted text into a scannable briefing you can absorb in seconds.

Content & WritingBeginner★ 1,535⑂ 55AI score 9/10Last updated: Oct 30, 2026

What it does

  • Compresses whatever source you point it at (pasted text, file, link, chat thread, transcript) into a one-line TL;DR + 3–7 key points + action items only when the source has them.
  • Preserves load-bearing detail — numbers, names, dates, thresholds, scoped conditions — using source wording when paraphrase would shift meaning.
  • Adds no inferred conclusions; genuinely ambiguous bits go under "Open questions" rather than being guessed away.
  • Scales length to the source instead of padding to fit a template.

Who it's for

  • Leads and PMs drowning in meeting transcripts and long Slack threads.
  • Anyone triaging research, articles, or contract drafts for decision points.
  • People who hate AI summaries that editorialize or invent.

Examples

  1. Paste a one-hour meeting transcript → decision and deadline land in the first line, owners and due dates in action items.
  2. Point it at a 20-page technical report → 5–7 key points that keep the figures and caveats intact.
  3. Feed it a contentious debate thread → each claim attributed to its speaker instead of flattened into one voice.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the plugins/attention-span/skills/tldr folder from the GitHub repo alexgreensh/attention-span into my ~/.claude/skills/alexgreensh-tldr/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/alexgreensh/attention-span /tmp/attention-span && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r /tmp/attention-span/plugins/attention-span/skills/tldr ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open your terminal.
  2. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/alexgreensh/attention-span /tmp/attention-span
  3. Create the skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy just this skill: cp -r /tmp/attention-span/plugins/attention-span/skills/tldr ~/.claude/skills/
  5. Restart Claude Code, then paste your content (or give a file path) and explicitly ask it to "use the tldr skill" — model auto-invocation is disabled, so you must call it yourself.
