Attention Kind (ADHD-friendly reply style)

A skill that switches Claude into an ADHD-friendly reply style: bottom line first, short scannable blocks, no padding.

What it does

Changes how Claude talks for the rest of the chat (not what it can do or how it codes).

  • The first sentence carries the single most important takeaway, so reading only that still answers the question.
  • Each point is its own → block, and the bold text alone conveys the gist, the recommendation, and any warning.
  • Numbers, thresholds, and scoped conditions are stated exactly, never rounded off and never widened from "only X" into "all".
  • Warnings, caveats, and correctness-critical details are never trimmed or deferred.
  • When there is too much to absorb, it gives the top one or two in full, names the rest, and lets you pull it.
  • When you ask to "really explain" or "walk me through it", the brevity rules are suspended and you get the full picture.
  • Kills filler openers, repeated summaries, rhetorical questions, and em-dashes.

Who it's for

  • Anyone who bounces off walls of text and loses the key point
  • People with ADHD or a short attention window
  • Developers scanning Claude Code output in a terminal to make fast decisions
  • Anyone who wants the conclusion first and the detail on demand

Examples

  1. "Why is this failing?" → line one: "Cache key collision." Then one block each for repro conditions and the fix location.
  2. Explaining a config → keeps the exact scope: "30s buffer for workspaces under 14 days old, established ones stay at 600s."
  3. "Walk me through the whole architecture" → brevity off, every decision, number, and risk delivered in scannable blocks.
  4. "Write the commit message" → outputs only the commit message, no wrapper text.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the plugins/attention-span/skills/attention-kind folder from the GitHub repo alexgreensh/attention-span into my ~/.claude/skills/alexgreensh-attention-kind/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/alexgreensh/attention-span.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r attention-span/plugins/attention-span/skills/attention-kind ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal.
  2. Clone the repo: git clone https://github.com/alexgreensh/attention-span.git
  3. Create the skills folder: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy the skill in: cp -r attention-span/plugins/attention-span/skills/attention-kind ~/.claude/skills/
  5. Restart Claude Code.
  6. Ask for it by name in chat, e.g. "use the attention-kind style from here on" (model auto-invocation is disabled, so you trigger it yourself).
  7. To remove it: rm -rf ~/.claude/skills/attention-kind, then restart.
