AI Brain — Persistent Memory via Obsidian
Turns an Obsidian vault into Claude's long-term memory: saves session summaries as Markdown notes and recalls only the relevant ones.

What it does
- On "wrap up", "save this session" or "remember this", it distills the conversation into decisions, facts, what was built, and open TODOs.
- Writes a structured note to
AI Brain/<YYYY-MM-DD>-<slug>.mdthrough the Filesystem MCP and adds a one-line pointer to anAI Brain/MOC.mdindex with#tagsand[[wikilinks]]. - On recall, it greps the MOC and notes for the topic and loads only the matching files — retrieval, not a full reload, so token cost stays low.
- Enforces append-only writes, no overwriting past sessions, and "never invent memories".
Who it's for
- Obsidian users running long-lived projects with Claude.
- Developers and PMs tired of re-pasting context at the start of every session.
- Anyone who wants their AI memory stored as local files they own.
Examples
- Type "wrap up" at the end of a work session → today's architecture decisions and TODOs land in a dated note.
- Ask next week "what did we decide about auth?" → Claude opens just that note and answers with a
📓 From your vault:grounding line. - Say "remember this: we deploy on Fridays only" → the fact is appended to the context section and linked from the MOC.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart. Copy the skills/ai-brain folder from the GitHub repo Ootto-AI/claude-content-skills into my ~/.claude/skills/ai-brain/. When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.
Install with a command instead
git clone https://github.com/Ootto-AI/claude-content-skills.git /tmp/claude-content-skills && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r /tmp/claude-content-skills/skills/ai-brain ~/.claude/skills/⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.
- Open a terminal.
- Clone the repo:
git clone https://github.com/Ootto-AI/claude-content-skills.git - Install the skill:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r claude-content-skills/skills/ai-brain ~/.claude/skills/ - Pick (or create) a folder to act as your Obsidian vault.
- In Claude Desktop go to Settings → Developer → Edit Config and add the Filesystem MCP connector pointing at that vault folder.
- Restart Claude, end a chat with "wrap up", and confirm a new note appears under
AI Brain/.
