agent-qa Browser Regression (Spring Boot 3)

A disciplined workflow for verifying browser user journeys of a running Spring Boot 3 app with the agent-qa CLI, reporting only evidence from real runs.

Dev & CodingAdvanced★ 338⑂ 54AI score 8/10Last updated: Nov 2, 2026

What it does

  • Gives Claude the procedure and guardrails for running browser-based regression checks with the agent-qa CLI against a live Spring Boot 3 application.
  • Enforces four phases: target selection (distinguishing the real UI origin from a reverse proxy, API port, or Actuator management port), scoped execution (validate → dry-run → live run only when authorized), run evidence (run ID, digest, runs overview, per-step evidence), and memidex provenance.
  • Protects the testing pyramid: browser coverage must not replace MockMvc, repository tests, or Testcontainers.
  • Preserves authentication, authorization, CSRF, tenant boundaries, and response envelopes — disabling security to make a test pass is explicitly forbidden.
  • Keeps credentials in workspace.secretsFile referenced as {{secret:NAME}}, and warns that text masking does not cover screenshots or video artifacts.
  • Refuses to report a dry run or exit code 0 as a pass; requires the actual native verdict text and reports inability to execute as a separate limitation.

Who it's for

  • Teams running a Spring Boot 3 app with a real browser UI who have adopted (or are evaluating) agent-qa's natural-language tests.
  • QA and backend engineers who have been burned by an AI claiming "tests passed" when it only hit a health endpoint.
  • Tech leads who want to pre-empt agents stripping CSRF or auth after a 403.
  • Not a fit for API-only services — the skill itself redirects those to HTTP/integration testing skills.

Usage examples

  1. Checkout flow regression: "Verify the checkout journey on the new build" → review tests/checkout.yaml, run agent-qa validate, then --dry-run, and only with authorization agent-qa run tests/checkout.yaml --build-tag "$APP_BUILD_TAG", then read the digest and step evidence for the report.
  2. Failure triage: When a run fails, separate an application defect from a wrong test expectation, an environment failure (missing credentials or infrastructure), or an uncertain agent verdict — and propose the smallest next action.
  3. Memory cross-check: When an old memidex success conflicts with a current failure, use agent-qa runs knowledge RUN_ID --json and knowledge inspect to check provenance and current validity, without accepting, rejecting, or forgetting records during review.

Install the skill I found on AI Skill Mart.
Copy the skills/spring-boot-3/agent-qa-browser-regression folder from the GitHub repo rrezartprebreza/spring-boot-skills into my ~/.claude/skills/agent-qa-browser-regression/.
When it's done, tell me in one line what this skill can do.

Install with a command instead

git clone https://github.com/rrezartprebreza/spring-boot-skills.git && mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r spring-boot-skills/skills/spring-boot-3/agent-qa-browser-regression ~/.claude/skills/

⚠ This is a third-party skill. Check the source repository before installing.

  1. Open a terminal and move to the folder where you keep skills.
  2. Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/rrezartprebreza/spring-boot-skills.git
  3. Create the Claude skills directory: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
  4. Copy the whole skill folder so the bundled examples/ files come along: cp -r spring-boot-skills/skills/spring-boot-3/agent-qa-browser-regression ~/.claude/skills/
  5. Optionally copy the referenced companion skill so internal links resolve: cp -r spring-boot-skills/skills/spring-boot-3/testing-pyramid ~/.claude/skills/
  6. Prepare prerequisites: install Node.js 24+, install the agent-qa CLI, and set up agent-qa.config.yaml plus workspace.secretsFile in your project directory.
  7. Restart Claude Code, then ask something like "Use agent-qa to verify the checkout journey on the running app."
  8. Always rehearse against a disposable test environment first; live or production runs require explicit authorization and the documented configuration gate.
